Hope is a non-profit organization that assists individuals with developmental disabilities so they can live and participate in their communities. Their vision is to understand the dreams of those with developmental disabilities and help them, their families, and community members to create opportunities to fulfill their dreams.
Developmental disabilities include: mental retardation, Down's syndrome, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, and other conditions closely related to mental retardation and which require similar care and treatment. Hope was founded to help these individuals in 1952 by a group of parents who joined together to help their children live with these kinds of disabilities and give them the same oportunities as their peers. Today HOPE is a multi-faceted organization in San Mateo, Santa Clara, San Benito, and Monterey Counties and provide many programs and services from living assistance to mobility training, employment and job training.
